Watersmeet, Devon

Watersmeet stands at the bottom of a deep gorge at the meeting of the East Lyn River and Hoar Oak Water and flower on to Lynmouth, the valley is absolutely stunning. You can wander along the river on one of the many paths and see crashing water and unusual rock formations and maybe some wildlife.

Children and dogs can play in the river, while others can just sit and soak up the experience. We sat by the riverside and watched the Dippers hop from stone to stone catching flies and bugs.

Watersmeet House is a National Trust property. A former fishing lodge, it is today used as an information centre and tea room and shop. Parking is limited and not National Trust you have to pay at the top of the gorge and walk down
