Mining statue – Lower Fore Street, Redruth

The bronze sculpture of a Cornish miner stands two metres tall and was produced by artist David Annand. It celebrates the former mining industry that was especially dominant in the Redruth area of Cornwall. The miner has a candle on his hat that is held in place by a lump of clay. He is holding a pick in one hand and a metal ingot in the other. Sticks of explosive hang around his neck.

It truly is a magnificent sight at the top of Lower Fore Street, Redruth
