Were there ever any Hawkers at Hawkers cove?

Now this is where it become difficult to understand what is the true meaning of the area.

As I understood ………A hawker is a vendor of merchandise that can be easily transported; the term is roughly synonymous with costermonger or peddler. In most places where the term is used, a hawker sells inexpensive goods, handicrafts, or food items.


After much research I have finally come across what could be the true meaning of the Name Hawkers Cove.

The actual site of Hawkers cove which is a delightful bay about a mile away from Stepper point where in mediaeval times the prior of Bodmin to whom the land then belonged, Hunted and Hawked there, it was said it was a favourite haunt of his. Hence the name Hawkers cove.
