This isn’t really a good image, but my position when I took it was, from anywhere else the cloud formation wouldn’t look as if it was coming out of the top of the dunes.
Was it Coincidence, serendipity or fate?
Serendipity: the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.
Luck or coincidence can play a massive role in a successful image, and I must admit that I feel rather lucky these days. but is there perhaps something more to it than coincidence?
I was talking to my old university lecturer about this subject a few weeks ago and he told me that Coincidence, serendipity and fate does have a factor in the construction of a great image, but, if you’re not getting out there to find these subject these images will not be taken. He said “You can call it what you want…… luck, Coincidence, serendipity or fate but I call it hard work”.
He reminded me of an Ansel Adams quote ……….’You don’t take a photograph; you make it’.
